The Plan:

Hour/Roll Two

Location: Brighton Seafront: The Arches, The Piers

The seafront is arguably what Brighton is most known for, with the two piers and the shops lining the seafront. I hope that when I go on this shoot it will be a busy sunny day, so I can get amongst crowds when taking photographs.

Overall, I am very happy with how this roll came out as I feel I harnessed Brighton seafront with a truthful eye. I like the humour that is seen within the images, as well as the different compositions throughout. If I were to shoot this again, I would go on a sunny day, as going after it just rained meant not many subjects were about to photograph. Although in the same breath, I like that it wasn't too busy as it allowed the beach to stand on its own, and not look too noisy with people.

Best Prints:

I chose this best print as I love how on first glance the model comes across as a real person. There is a comic element to the image, but I do wish the subject on the left was in some way mimicking the model. I feel this image is good but doesn't quite class as a perfect print, in my eyes.

I like the negative space that is used in this image. If you look carefully you can also see the group screaming as they go down the Wild River ride. I also love the smaller details in this image, like the two birds and the two buildings. I feel it harnesses the pier rides in an artistic way.

I love this image, as it's the only one in the project without people in but somehow it still tells a story. The black and white film makes this look like a very old image and due to the condition of the frankenstein statue. I'm very happy with the composition and slightly eery feel to this image, harnessed by the use of space.

This is one of my favourite images from the roll. I like the comic element of the man almost mimicking the lobster statue in the background. I also like how the fencing modernises an otherwise timeless image.

I love how this candid image looks as though it was staged. It just happened that this tourist had bought a spyglass with him to the beach, allowing me to shoot a very stereotypical beach image. I also like how the i360 looks as though it joins to the spyglass. The other elements of the arches and the bush add nice detail to the photograph.

I like the framing in this image, as well as the different lines seen by the pier and railings. The composition is almost perfect, if it was slightly more centered. The subject is also very interesting as the running clothes, and the way the character looks at the camera adds a narrative element to the photograph.
