Getting the Ball Rolling: Industry Contacts

I luckily have a couple of good starting points for placements due to contacts close to me who happen to be within the media industry. I feel that networking and getting experience through people you know if often the best way into a closed off industry like media. I will list below my main links into a placement, as well as some other places I will try and apply for:

Walt Disney: Creative and Media Production Office, London

My cousin James Gardiner, has worked as Senior Commercial Partnerships Manager at The Walt Disney Company, for many years now. His job involves working with a diverse amount of companies as he gets Disney's media to work with other brands. For example, James recently worked with Sky Broadband, as they starred the film Inside Out on their advertising campaign. He has often mentioned that I could get contacts through him, if I was ever on the hunt for a placement and he would be happy to help. Working at the Disney firm would be great experience, so I will be contacting James first to see if he can get me any contacts.

Royal Army, Photography Dep, LOCATION HERE - ALSO CHANGE TO OFFICIAL OFFICE

Whilst at an engagement event, I met Jason who proposed that I could come and do a photography based placement at the Royal Army. This would be a documentary photography placement, which would be perfect as this is the field I believe I may want to focus a career on in the future.
