Main Design: Rethink
I decided against my original design for many reasons. The main being that minimalist designs look more sleek on a wide range of products. When thinking about how I would make the last design product appropriate, I found it hard, due to the solid background. Although I liked the design and the concept as a stand alone piece, I decided it wouldn't look affective as a brand or as a conference poster.
Below is the beginning stages of the new design. As you can see, I have added the sketch of Dixie onto a blank A3 square document and added the title 'Sketch'. I feel this title is direct and snappy, and will appear professional on different products.
Below is my first draft. I didn't like the colouring or overall look of this design. The drawn title and pink colouring looked unprofessional, so I decided to start the design again, using a different colour scheme but keeping the same kind of concept.
Below is my second finished design. I used the Helvetica Bold font, to catch the viewers eye. This was inspired by the documentary we watched in class.
To add colour, I decided to draw curled lines from the font to the drawing. Overall, I like how this looked but it could have been done with more accuracy. I accidentally selected the wrong layer, so any lines which were drawn over the original drawing couldn't be erased without erasing the subject of the piece.
I then started a new document, assuring that whenever I drew, new layers were added. I decided to use bolder lines, to define the colours.
Overall, I am happy with my new design. I feel the minimalist look references my artists inspirations more.
